Priority economic fields for investment call

1. Agriculture, fishery:
      1.1 Rice production:

With initiative irrigational conditions, the rice farming area is about 80,000 hectares, in which 70,000 hectares are grown high grade rice (10,000 hectares grown special rice); the rice capacity is stable and obtains about 1 million tons, and the mean rice export yield obtains 350,000-400,000 tons/year; the establishment of “Hau Giang Rice” trademark has been performing.

     1.2 Fishery:

The total water surface area which can use for aquaculture is nearly 54,000 hectares; besides, there is also the river and arroyo water surface area of 15,000 hectares with the fishery yield of 33,000-35,000 tons/ year, in which 80-85% of yield is farming: pangasius, blue clawed shrimp, red pargo, striped flatfish, anabas,…The land and water potential for aquaculture, and farming fish in cages or rafts are very convenient, especially the ability of exploiting and farming pangasius is still great.

      1. 3 Fruit specialities:

Some farming areas on tropical fruit trees have been established with the area of nearly 30,000 hectares, and the yield of 1,500 tons/ year and varieties of fruit trees improved with valuable-rare gene source such as: Oranges, mandarin oranges, Phu Huu five sticks grapefruit (Nam Roi Phu Huu grapefruit),

     1.4  Sugar-cane:

The sugar-cane farming area is about 16,000 hectares with the yield of nearly 1.5 million tons, and the area can come to more than 25,000 hectares at rush time with the supply capacity of 2.5 million tons/year.

      1.5 Pineapple (ananas):

 The pineapple farming area is about 1,500 hectares with the yield of nearly 15,000 tons/year, the area can come to more than 5,000 hectares at rush time with the supply capacity of 250,000-300,000 tons/ year in intensive farming conditions.

2. Industry – small scale industry:

• Hau River industrial and urban zone has been planned with the total area of over 3,220 hectares. In which, there is Hau River Industrial zone with the area of 290 hectares approximately.
• Tan Phu Thanh industrial zone with the area of 200 hectares approximately.
