Doctor Pham Danh Khoi, Director of Hau Giang Department of Public Health, said: “According to the plan serving for the first Vietnam National Rice Festival, Hau Giang province will spray chemicals to prevent epidemic diseases, especially diseases contagious to humans on large scale in the area of whole province from November 20 -25. Authority related will build, maintain, and upgrade 9 rooms (44 sick-beds) to isolate patients if the epidemic breaks out. Three field-ambulance groups (each including one doctor, 3 nurses, 1 ambulance) always present at the festival area will be established. Hospitals in the whole province are also ready for treating 500 patients unexpectedly at the time of Festival if epidemics take place.
In terms of food safety, Food Safety Agency (the Provincial Public Health Department) will have a concrete plan in the first week of November to handle to districts, especially to key places such as Vi Thanh Town, Vi Thuy and Long My districts. Medical Departments will join with other related branches and local authorities to reckon up restaurants, hotels, eating shops, including vendor eateries, street food stands to give intensive training courses for the owners and to remind them of carrying out regular check-up for their employees to ensure food safety, health of local people and guests during the Festival’s time.
