Collection of farming tools for the exhibition

For a few past days, Hau Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development jointly with other provinces’ authorities have been to farming households to collect farming tools of the past time which were used in rice cultivation.

So far, the seeking of farming tools for display at the first Vietnam National Rice Festival has been well done. Old farming tools of 30 – 50 years ago have been found such as: old sickle to harvest winter rice crop, scythe, rice mortar, rice planting pile, slip knot, rice threshing chair … However, according to Hau Giang’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, there are many farming tools which have been not in use for a long time so they need to be restored, or displayed by photos such as: rice mill, bamboo basket for threshing rice, device for threshing rice using buffalo, board for pulling young rice plant. The provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is continuing to collect farming tools in districts of Long My, Phung Hiep.
