Seminar “Xa No Canal – The Rice Way of Hau Giang Region”


Seminar “Xa no canal– the Rice way of Hau Giang region” was the third seminar within the scope of the first Vietnam Rice Festival taken place in the meeting-hall of City Party Committee – Vi Thanh township. In the Seminar, there was the attendance of Mr. Sam Trung Viet, Standing Deputy Secretary of Hau Giang Provincial Committee of the Party.

The Seminar was organized by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, People’s Committee of Hau Giang province and Can Tho University. Prof., DSc.Vo Tong Xuan; DSc. Do Van Xe, Vice-Rector of Can Tho University; DSc. Vo Hung Dung, Director of VCCI in Can Tho and Mr. Trinh Quang Hung, Vice-Chairperson of People’s Committee of Hau Giang province, and Chief of the Organization Committee of the first Vietnam Rice Festival have presided over the Seminar. Attending in the Seminar, there were more than 150 representatives from 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, Binh Dinh province, home and abroad enterprises and the one from more than 30 news agencies as well as local and central press, television and radio stations.

There were 09 co-reports shown by scientists, managers, writers, and journalists in the Seminar with the 03 key contents: Affirming the historical value, discussing the special subject of the indispensability of forming Xa No canal as well as its role in the agricultural producing process of Hau Giang people. In which, the factors of settlement, irrigation, goods transport, rice stocks and export focused and analysed.
