Vinh Trang pagoda

Go Cong sea

It doesn’t take much time to know that two well-known queens, Tu Du and Nam Phuong, in the time of Nguyen Kings were born in this region where imprinted the name of Truong Dinh hero. This is the peaceful region and the cradle of talents. Firstly, we can visit the houses built in time of French domination. It is more remarkable is that Chanh Tham Bien palace, also known as Mr. Chanh palace. Going deep into Go Cong town, at ward 1, tourists can visit Truong Dinh palace – a national hero in the anti-French colonialists war. With the ancient Oriental architecture, Truong Dinh is considered as a historical vestige and built by the typical tomb architecture of Vietnameses in the South Viet Nam.

Leaving Truong Dinh palace, and then going straight to Son Quy mound, tourists can visit the architecture of the cluster of Royal tombs (Hoang Gia tombs) which were built on the fairly wide area in 1826, including the tombs of the Pham Dang Hung - the maternal family name of Tu Duc king and a house of worship. The tourists can’t no admire the precise sculpture of craftsmans in Go country. The craftsmans themselves made unpolished materials become valuable works of art.


Mr. Non trade village – a well-known trade village in Go Cong long since. Materials by precious wood types such as Go wood, ebony, barian kingwood …. inlaid with mother-of-pearls and snail shells into the images of the four supernatural creatures (dragon, unicorn, tortoise, phoenix), the four seasons, ancient tales .... which convince buyers due to the elegant beauty of them. Specially, the cabinet wasn’t built by iron nails but fit together by keys and bolts. This cabinet type is used in Hung King Palace and prefered by the customers nationwide.

After visiting the whole trade village, tourists leave the town and go on about 15km towards the direction of sunrise, Tan Thanh will appear in front of you. The gust of fresh wind, and sea waves rushing into the shore seemly welcome and invite the tourists’ stop. Along with the coast, there are very white salt fields.

Besides, it’s also very interesting when looking at the images shrimp fields, crab growing places, and it will be more surprising when you are treated with the special dishes of Go region. It’s very lucky for someone, strange guests, who arrive in the coast at ebb-tide when fishermans go to the coast to scoop up ngheu (a kind of clam). How wonderful when you can mix with sea water away from the busy works of the life in hurry …

Going back up the above direction to Vam Lang sea. It is 12 km from the town, it is Vam Lang market, the commercial intercourse place on seafood with most the products from Go Cong sea. Here, the goods are very fresh, plentiful and diversified, especially the prices to suit every pocket. After visiting the whole sea market, tourists should come Kieng Phuoc to see the board of conferring a title on genie awarded by Gia Long king, and look at the skeleton of Whale in Vam Lang village communal house. The skeleton remains in shapelessness but it left a legend and strange stories. The old men here told that there used to be two big whales help Nguyen Anh to be ashore safely and escaped from Tay Son chasing. Or Mr. Huynh Van Binh found a dead whale in shapelessness and worshipped with the belief that the middle part of the remains can bring the village the luck… lastly, the bastion in Phu tan commune, Go Cong Dong district. This is an impressive defense works built by the Western Grand Marsal, Truong Dinh in the middle of 19th century.
