Long An Travel


The most attraction of Long An travel is the humane value of Oc-Eo culture that formed and developed in the Mekong Delta from the 01st century to the 06th century AD with the accept of Indian cultural quintessence. 12,000 items were collected from about 20 prehistoric vestiges and nearly 100 Oc-Eo cultural vestiges. Besides, in Long An, there are over 40 important revolutionary and historic monuments, structures and famous landscapes such as the group of Binh Ta (Duc Hoa) vestiges, Vam Nhut Tao historic monument zone, the one hundred column house, Dong Thap Muoi ecologic tourist area,…

Binh Ta archaeological vestige

In Duc Hoa Ha commune, Duc Hoa district, Long An province, it is 40 km from Tan An to the northeast of Tan An town, on the route of Tan An – Ben Luc – Duc Hoa town, and 800m from the provincial road No. 824 (formerly provincial road 9) to the east. It is amongst of more than 60 archaeological vestiges which is surveyed and concentrated in Duc Hoa district; Binh Ta vestige is the group of 16 architectural relics surrounded by old lakes. In Binh Ta vestige area, the Department of Culture & Information and Ho Chi Minh Social Science Institute have jointly excavated 3 vestiges: Go Xoai, Go Nam Tuoc, Go Don.

Go Xoai vestige


It is an architectural monument built of bricks and in a shape of rather square with 20m in length of each side, and its foundation structure is very strong and complicated by a variety of different materials such as basalt pebble, red gravel, white sand, pink sand, … Go Xoai architecture has the square hole of worship with 2.2m in each side and over 2.5m in depth; the bone-ash and the collection of valuable objects on display including golden particles carved sacret objects such as turtle, snake, elephant, the precious stone inlaying rings and medals, and the Sanskrit – Pail civilization board have been found at the position near the bottom. In the above discovery, Go Xoai architecture is considered as a stupa monument of Buddhism with the earliest date in the Mekong Delta.

Go Nam Tuoc monument: an architecture monument built of bricks, 17.2m in length, 11.1m in width; the upper part of its was lost, but its foundation is still characterized by the feature of Oc-Eo cultural architecture such as: the angle breaking structure, very straight brick foundation lines, and the semicircular three-door temple gate towards the east, which the base of affirmation that this is a temple architecture of Hinduism.

Go Don monument: a temple-tower architecture built of bricks, 78.5m in East-West length, 60m in width (North-South direction); before being excavated, the whole architecture had been in the earth’s womb; 0.4m is the nearest position to the earth’s surface. Many stone objects on display such as the statue of Dvarapala genie (Temple keeping genie), the statue head of Ganesa genie (Blessing genie), many objects of worship including linga, yoni, mi, the door carved the designs of flowers and leaves, the holy water condiut (somasutra) and old pottery objects were collected from the excavation. In the worship hole, the vestige center is 3m in depth, there is a sacret object named yoni broken and a lots pebbles reckoned as worship stone.

Long An museum


Locating in the center of Tan An town, ward 4, many valuable and rare antiques of cultural and artistic significance are displayed here, in which there are many exhibits excavated from the local cultural remains, which is very exciting for sightseeing and researching. Specially, there is also the statue of Goddess of Mercy (Quan Aâm) with one thousand eyes and one thousand hands (one thousand eye and one thousand hand Bodhisattva Goddess of Mercy Quan Theá Aâm Boà Taùt) – a unique carved and wooden object on display which is duplicated by the provincial artisans from the original statue in But Thap pagoda (Ha Bac province).

Monument of the one hundred column house


This is an ancient carved structure that is often called as the one hundred column house (because it is built of more than 100 columns) by the inhabitants in Long Huu Dong commune. With the area of 882m2, the one hundred column house was built in the garden of 4,044m2, and the front of this house is towards the northwest. The whole house was built of wood (including barian kingwood, red Go wood, honey Go wood) with the double tile roof, and the floor made of carved stones of 0.9m in height, and the floor surface tiled hexagonal bricks. On the map, the one hundred column house is designed in “quoc” word consisting of three compartments and two lean-tos. The house has two parts: the front part includes internal compartment of worship and external living room, and the back part is used for living. The whole system of trusses embossed and sculptured meticulously with the subjects of “the clouds changes into the dragon”, “the four seasons” with the typical model of “liana, leaves and flowers”, which are the specific feature of Hue. The compartments of internal compartment of worship and external living room, are the places where the aesthetic value of the structure is concentrated and shown by each carved line. That is the plentiful and diversified set of subjects from the classical one such as “the four supernatural creatures”, “the eight fruit types”, “happiness, wealth and longevity” to the modern one such as roses, squirrels, grapes and the typical fruit types in the South Vietnam such as custard-apples, anona asiaticas, star fruits, mangosteens, which are all expressed meticulously and skilfully on balconies, cell frames, partition walls, altara, chairs, circular table, long table by the techniques of sculpture, wood-carving, wood-carving on sculpture base of artisans.

Earthy Mountain – A beautiful vestige in Long An

From Tan An township (Long An) and along the provincial road no.49, about 65km from Moc Hoa town, seeing Bien Phong crossroads, turning left and going on about 500m you will see the Earthy mountain. You can feel cool mountainous breezes on your face when your destination is coming near. From a distant view, the Earthy Mountain looks like a huge rockery rising in the middle of a navy-blue, clear, quiet and and poetic lake. The Earthy Mountain area is divided into three small islands: the first small island with the big mountain of 10m in height, the small mountain of 5m in height, many large rocks covered by mosses and weathered by wind by the time and intermixed in the century-old trees casting the shadow, and the path of rocky steps. Surrounding the mountain, there are eartherned paths which fixed by stone jetty along the water edge in order to insure the safety of the tourists. The second small island is a small mountain built of ground linking the first one by a long-small bridge. The third small island is on the left of the lotus lake and shaped as a rockery with two snowbells…. In the middle of the lake, there are two floating pavilions for tourists enjoying fresh air and chatting…. On the lakeshore, there are a houses of work, receptionist, restaurants, the area of flowers, bonsais, birds and animals…

The historical relics of Nhut Tao rivulet mouth (Vam Nhut Tao).

An intersection between Vam Co Dong river and Nhut Tao river, and Nhut Tao rivulet mouth is a tranquil and mild rivery region in An Nhut Tan commune, Tan Tru district, Long An province. Nowadays, if boating down by Vam Co Dong to the territory of An Nhut Tan commune, tourists can enjoy the charming rivery region of Vam Nhut Tao. The river is rather wide, crystal, beautified by the houses crouching under nipa rows and some varieties of wild trees such as mangrove, cork, avicennia germinans along the both sides.

From the rivulet mouth about 200m, there is the chain-bridge built over Nhut Tao river linking An Nhut Tan commune and Binh Trinh Dong commune. At sunrise the general beautiful view of the rivulet mouth can only felt when you stand from the bridge. The melting dew is skimming on the long river surface and pinkish by the sunrise light, and the rhythmic yo-heave-ho sound of the fisherman is as far-away sound everywhere.

Mieu Ba Co (Great Grandmother small shrine) area

Mieu Ba Co, a small shrine, has existed for over 150 years in Binh Tri hamlet, Phu Ngai Tri commune, Chau Thanh district. In this area, Battalion 309 and Chau Thanh army and people jointly ambushed and wiped out 1 battalion and 1 company of enemy on 24/02/1954, which was a historic victory of Battalion 309 and Chau Thanh army and people in 9 years of the anti-French colonialists resistance war.

Dong Thap Muoi ecologic tourist area



Boating up Vam Co Tay river, tourists are boated to central Dong Thap Muoi, the typical ecologic tourist region of the hollow region in the South Vietnam, about 50km from Tan An, belonging to Moc Hoa, Vinh Hung, Thanh Hoa and Tan Thanh districts. Coming here, tourists will see thick and interminable forests by your own eyes with subtle scent and each honey-bee hive hovering around, and there are also large lotus fields with a great many lotus flowers showing their colour under sunlight. Many valuable and rare animal species have been protected in Dong Thap Muoi such as storks, red head cranes, turtles, snakes, …., which makes the ecologic region more beautiful.

Thanh Tam flower and bonsai garden


At the central of Tan An town, This is a various flower and bonsai garden, in which there is some over 100 years. Many of them have been awarded the gold medals in the spring fair of the Southern provinces. The world’s wonders such as Phu Si mountain, Angkor temple, Pyramid, Hue citadel, …. are seemly zoomed out in this garden by the talented artisans.
