The path to the future
Over 60-year history, the development of VNPT has always been attached to the development of the posts and telecommunications sector of Vietnam. The group was the first posts and telecommunications service provider of Vietnam, having laid the foundation for the development of the country’s posts and telecommunications industry. The group has also played a significant role in turning Vietnam into one of the ten countries that enjoy the fastest growth rate in the field of post and telecommunications in the world.
With more than 90,000 employees, advanced telecommunications infrastructure, a network covering all of 63 provinces and cities in the country, as well as rich experience in supplying posts and telecommunications services, VNPT offers a wide and diversified range of services to its clients. In the area of telecommunications, VNPT provides a number of comprehensive products and services, such as voice, data transmission, Internet and value added services over an unified and modern infrastructure, with wireline and wireless means of transmission.
Currently, VNPT is proud to be home of more than 10 million fixed phone subscribers, almost 40 million mobile phone subscribers and about 1.5 million Internet ADSL subscribers. VNPT has won the hearts of Vietnamese and foreign customers through famous, professional brands such as the mobile service of MobiFone and Vinaphone, Internet ADSL Mega VNN service, traditional fixed phone services, International Direct Dial (IDD) service, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone services 171, 1717 and 1719, Vinasat services, leased lines, Virtual Private Network (MegaWAN), Next Generation Network (NGN) - based services, value added services and postal services.
In January 2006, the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Corporation officially became the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), with a new model of operation. The development strategy of the group is to become the leading economic group of Vietnam with posts, telecommunications and information technology being the core.
VNPT has equitized 39 of its subsidiaries and invested in all types of enterprises and financial institutions in different areas like infrastructure development, industry, finance and banking, insurance, real estate, construction and installation... The Group also has also coorperated with Ministries, leading domestic enterprises and investors such as: Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance, Bao Viet Finance - Insurance Group, the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), the Vietnam Construction Import-Export Corporation (Vinaconex), Industrial Development Company, Urban Infrastructure Development Investment Corporation (UDIC)...
In early 2007, VNPT officially announced its presence in the international market by opening its branch office in San Francisco, U.S.A. VNPT is expanding its markets in Southeast Asia like Laos and Cambodia and other potential markets. In its 60-year operation and development, VNPT is well aware of the decisive role of the human resources. The group is the sole posts and telecommunications business which owns an university of national level - the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT). PTIT provides different curriculums to all kinds of students from skilled workers to doctors. VNPT is also the only business which possesses the health care system with six prestigious hospitals nationwide.
